Alice loves writing for younger people and is currently working on a variety of projects for both young adults and younger children. Recent commissions include a framing novel narrative as part of The Chancery of Lost and Found for the 2015 Bath International Literature Festival and a poetic linking narrative for the group novel “And then I realise that I am lost” she also edited for Bath Festival Young Writers’ Lab – a regular group for teenagers that she runs.
She loves dreamy and fantastical novels for young people – where strangeness and big ideas are not shied away from but embraced. Her dream book would be The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge, meets Anne of Green Gables, meets the Moomins… For young adults she admires dark poetic work.
As well as fiction projects Alice is also a children’s screenwriter and has written for the BBC, including The Large Family based on the books by Jill Murphy and The Clangers for CBeebies.
She works extensively on creative education projects as she believes listening to what young people want to write is as important as knowing what they want to read.
