The Memory Moat

Part of Alice’s 2015 commission from Somerset Art Works, The Car Boot Museum project, this film was exhibited as part of an installation at Studio 44AD in Bath. Originally projected onto old sash windows, this twenty minute film explores ideas of texture, movement and momentum in nature and how they echo the thought processes of memory and its many layers. Using an anticlockwise journey around the moat of Nunney Castle as a frame, the film interweaves flashes from The Car Boot Museum’s tour and Alice’s home to function as subliminal memories of the real interrupting the natural flow of an endless interchange of time and thoughts, as well as memory triggers within the larger frame of the viewers subconscious.
